Bus Ambassador Program

BUS AMBASSADOR PROGRAM

This project began out of a need to answer questions concerning the state of bullying within my elementary school. The inquiry began with a broad scope and was focused through months of collecting data on the most important group affected by possible bullying – students.

In a detailed survey, students were given the chance to express their perceptions of safety in and around the building. This resulted in the school bus being shown as an area of concern. The process of using an inquiry stance and relying on data to inform our school’s actions allowed our school staff to understand our entire student body’s concerns and learn more about who we are. It resulted in my beginning a bus ambassador program to directly address our need.

The bus ambassador program was piloted on three buses to allow us to learn the most we could in anticipation of a full scale program.
