SKYPE PERSONAL PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
Brining Skype into the classrooms allowed me to push teachers’ thinking to attempt new methods of delivering lessons, while allowing students the opportunity to learn through connecting with different peers in other cultures. Creating opportunities for teachers to experiment outside of their format depended on their willingness to risk the pitfalls of technology and possible failure. I encouraged teachers to try this new idea and fully supported them in a series of one to one PDs and classroom assistance at every turn.
Using Skype in the classroom was an excellent chance for me to incorporate the benefits of technology to improve teaching outcomes. Furthermore, the students were able to expand their minds. Their enthusiasm to learn and meet new peoples is a skill in itself that will help develop them as global thinkers for years to come.
